5 Spring Break Staycation/Trip Ideas in California

Posted on March 06 2018

Spring Break is coming up and whether you’ve been in LA your entire life or are visiting for a little vacay, California has a lot to offer. From city dwellers to nature lovers, we can guarantee that the sunshine state has something to offer you. With that, here are 5 staycation and tip ideas you should check out this year!

1. Ojai, CA

Trying to get away from the congested LA air and bumper to bumper traffic? Ojai, California is where you want to be. Just 1.5 hours  away from LA, this city is a must go for those who want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. For some detailed info on where to stay and go check out here and here.

2. Palm Springs, CA

Instead of the mountains, why not go the opposite direction of LA to visit the desert? Palm Springs is almost a 2 hour drive from LA and there, you will find interesting attractions along with the beautiful desert. We recommend doing a 3 day staycation at one of their many hotels like the Ace Hotel so you can visit the next attractions we will talk about.

3. Cabazon Dinosaurs, CA

For all you dinosaurs lovers out there, Cabazon Dinosaurs is located just 19 minutes from Palm Springs. Known as one of the most iconic roadside attractions, this place has over 50 dinosaur sculptures to satisfy your heart’s desire.

4. Salvation Mountain, CA

The reason why we said to make it a staycation if you ever want to visit Palm Springs is for this landmark located almost 2 hours away from the city. It’s not a requirement to be a religious person to be able to appreciate the work of artist Leonard Knight.
Salvation Mountain is an incredible man-mountain that took Knight 28 years to make. If you’re visiting this amazing art piece, make sure you stop by Salton Sea.

5. San Luis Obispo, CA

Finally, take some time to relax at this extremely peaceful college town. Located near the ocean, San Luis Obispo has lots of things for you to do. From wonderful food to being home of one of the most renown farmer’s market in the country, you’ll never run out of things to do here. To make this particular trip a little more unforgettable, make sure to book a room at the Madonna Inn.
